Story:
Karthik Calling Karthik is a psychological thriller about a man who receives a call from himself, with its fair share funny moments. The film has Farhan essay the role of pessimistic lonely brooder. The actor, in order to get into the skin of the character, isolated himself from friends and family for almost two months, along with switching off his cell phone. When the actor was quizzed about his method acting skills, he said at an event, “It was the nature of the character I was playing; he’s someone who’s lost in his own world, due to which I had to disconnect myself from the world. I made an effort to isolate myself from everyone. It’s just for the sake of my character; if you want to call it method acting, so be it.” Farhan is also shown to be a Rubik’s cube fanatic in the film. He got himself so addicted to the cube that he would take it along with him almost wherever he went, practicing it in his free time - in his car, at theatres or even in his office. He now could be hailed as a champion at solving the Rubik’s cube, offering challenges to his friends and family to beat him at it. Deepika, who stars alongside Farhan, also went through several changes for the film. The actress plays a bold working woman, and spoke of her character, saying, “My role is quite bold and optimistic as opposed to Farhan’s pessimistic one.” Dippy even cut her long flowing locks on hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar and director Vijay’s insistence on looking the part for the movie. The actress now sports shoulder-length hair that goes well with her tall frame. As far as the chemistry between the two leads go, Farhan is in awe of his leading lady. The actor couldn’t stop raving about the chemistry between him and Deepika, and said that the audiences would connect with his character when he falls head over heels in love with Dippy in the movie. ‘My character in the movie has several shades of me, like back in the day, when I couldn’t muster up the courage to ask out the girl I liked,’ said Farhan. Farhan, at the moment, is busy working on the script of the sequel to Don along with several of the post-production work of Karthik Calling Karthik.
